'MasterChef': Top Eleven Becomes Nine After Shocking Double Elimination (VIDEO)

Making the Top Ten of any reality competition show is an impressive feat, and with that nice round number it just feels symbolically significant. But for one contestant on "MasterChef" (Tue., 9 p.m. ET on Fox), that moment proved fleeting.

For the Mystery Box challenge, contestants got to cook alongside Graham Elliot, who easily showed them how artistry could be done on a tight schedule. Becky scored her first win, getting her pick of cooking tools in the kitchen for her and the other contestants. She gave herself the deep fryer, and everyone else the pizza stone.

Tanya, David and Mike struggled the most and wound up in the bottom three. After being told his oven-roasted lobster was his worst dish yet, Cowboy Mike was sent packing, creating the Top Ten. But only a few moments later, Gordon Ramsay stunned the contestants.

"That ten is about to become a top nine," he announced, and then sent Tanya on her way, with words of encouragement to continue growing and working in food.

The Top Nine continue on "MasterChef," Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on Fox.
